About Moon Lunar Calendar

Moon Lunar Calendar started with a simple need - checking the Chinese lunar calendar for specific lunar dates.

Having an interest in the various types of moons, astronomical phenomena and the cultural traditions tied to lunar cycles, I realized there was an opportunity to do something more useful. Three of the world's most widely used lunar calendars - the Chinese, Islamic and Hindu Panchang - serve billions of people across different cultures. Yet there was no single place where someone could access all three at their fingertips, side by side.

That became the purpose of this site. Not just a calendar tool, but a bridge between cultures. The articles that accompany the calendars explore moon science, lunar events, cultural stories and the traditions that different civilizations have built around the same moon we all share. A Chinese reader can learn about the significance of the crescent moon in Islamic astronomy. A Hindu reader can discover how the 24 solar terms shaped Chinese agriculture. An Islamic reader can explore how the Nakshatras map the lunar mansions in Vedic tradition.

The aim is straightforward - to help people from different backgrounds understand one another's cultures through the one thing every civilization on earth has looked up at and wondered about. Deeper moon knowledge enriches not just your understanding of the sky, but your understanding of the people who live beneath it.
